Diabetic Eye Conditions & Diabetes type 1 Treatment options!

Hi
I am type 1 diabetic on daily injections for past 35 years. My eye consultant is treating me for eye condition for about 4 years now. This has included Laser and currently eye injections into both eyes. Presently, I am on a new course of injections. Recently I came across a website recommending the Noctura Polyphotonix mask for my condition. I discussed with my eye doctor but they have never heard of it. I am wondering if others have opinions or recommendations etc on this product. Is there an alternative to eye injections? My consultant said that I will probably by on these injections for the rest of my life. I am just 50 years of age and would hate to lose my licence. It seems scary that there is no alternatives even tablets!!

Diabetic eye treatment is not my area of expertise (just got cataracts, a bit of stable background retinopathy and some (unrelated to T1) occasional corneal dystrophy).

You might get more replies if you stated what your current eye condition is called, as there seem to be a number of different stages of diabetic eye disease?

While I sympathise with you about the ongoing eye injections, I do know that eye specialists have got infinitely better at treating diabetic eye disease than they were decades ago, and the advantage of there being so many diabetics out there is that they have plenty of experience in treating our eyes and preserving our sight.

As for the noctura polyphotonix mask, the website looks interesting but my guess is the treatment is relatively new. So I have no idea whether the reason that your consultant hasn't heard of it is that it's very new, or that it's no use. (Obviously a big big difference).

Two questions spring to mind
1) is your eye disease at a stage which the treatment helps
2) does the treatment help

I have no experience of this but did have a quick look at the information provided - did I miss the price tag for it?
