So i have been a type 2 for about 6 years with blood sugars A1C ranging from 7.1-9.2. I got on top of it this year with my A1C being 5.7. I have had stomach issues over the past year that have gotten worse. I took a gastric emptying study which tested negative for gastroparesis but back then I had slight symptoms. Now my symptoms are worse. Stomach pains after eating, huge burps constantly. My blood sugar peaks hours after eating. I ate a turkey sandwich for lunch four hours ago and my BG still hasnt peaked. Its still at 128. Im just down because this is non reversable. Im in my 30s and I feel like I ruined my life.

Hi there @Db2213, firstly, congratulations on bringing down your Ac1 numbers. An Ac1 of 5.7% is great.

Stomach problems can really bring you down. I have coeliac disease and it can be awful if I eat gluten bringing on a whole host of symptoms. I’m also lactose intolerant, same thing , stomach ache, IBS, wind, and pain. Looking at your past posts it seems you have been having gastric issues for quite some time. As I’m sure you know there are many causes for stomach problems, some maybe related to meds, types of foods, food insensitivities, stomach enzymes, it’s quite the list. We cannot diagnose here, we are not Drs, but we can be supportive. When you have something that causes you discomfort after eating it’s important you find out what it is for your health and well being. I would push your GP to get this sorted.

If you don’t mind sharing your diet, what meals you eat. It might also help to document when these symptoms come on and what types of food you have eaten. It will help you and your Dr figure out what is causing your gastric distress.

I have coeliac, but I didn’t know it. I would get these differing symptoms when I ate different foods. It transpired I was extremely sensitive to gluten. And gluten is in a lot of food products. Now I‘m not suggesting you have coeliac, I’m using my experience to demonstrate how a food ingredient can really do a number on you and cause utter misery. My advice is to push your Dr to get to the bottom of what’s causing your gastric distress , especially as you feel it is ruining your life.

Bottom line is, in my view, that you don't know what is causing these issues. It may be gastrparaesis or something else.

There is no point getting down about things until you have a definitive diagnosis - even if it is one you don't want.

My digestion can be sluggish and I have bloat etc., but my challenges are around gluten and a thyroid that doesn't play fair any more.

My strongest advice possible is to go back to your Doc and explained your worsening state. It strikes me a repeated gastric emptying test, along with others would be very helpful to you.

Chin up, and do what you need to do to know what you are dealing with.
