Hi just an update, I finally got to speak to the practice nurse today, she said my feeling I'll couldn't be attributed to diabetes as my last hba 1c was 7.3, that I needed to speak to the doctor about why I am unwell. She was not interested in my day to day bs results. I explained the gliclazide made me pile on alot of weight and gave me frequent hypo s in afternoon. She told me to eat more to counteract the hypo s, there is no "alternative" drug only "add-on" drugs and I don't meet the criteria for anything until I am taking max dose metformin and gliclazide and hba 1c is still raised. I understand very much that fat cells increase insulin resistance, so feel like I am going round in circles. I have started taking the evening gliclazide, just omitting the morning one, and I do try to have something in the afternoon over last few days, still can't face anything in morning, mainly eating salads at the moment as is so hot here in UK. Interestingly I did manage to get my serum vitamin b12 result, it was 280, now by standard lab results (0-200) that is normal HOWEVER this is being pushed to be revised as is thought to be far too low threshold, articles in the British medical journal and research by vitamin b12 charity advise treatment for levels under 350, that present with typical symptoms such as tiredness, dizziness, shortness of breath etc, I pretty much ticked 99% of symptoms it was quite uncanny even down to things I wouldn't have attributed such as a fairly recent change to my periods which became ridiculously heavy and painful but on scan no abnormalities detected. Seeing as I have had pretty much every test going over the past year I certainly think treatment would be worth a try, now just to convince my doc. I was diagnosed diabetic in hospital by endo consultant, I think type 2 diagnosis was based on my history of gestational diabetes, high bmi (I am 5"3 so in the morbidly obese category :***:) and absence of ketones in blood. Am going tomorrow to have eyes looked at, the drop test thingy, as vision has worsened significantly and quickly, bit nervous, don't like anything to do with eyes, makes me wanna puke :yuck: My surgery is a large medical centre, to be honest they have far too many patients to staff, changing to the nearest other surgery would mean an expensive taxi ride there and back as my vision prevents me driving at the moment and there is no bus route. Going private isn't possible, I wish it was, as I had to give up work last year when I became ill and finances are on the ill side themselves lol:hungover: Will keep this updated just for reference, I don't know it may help someone else in the future, as so many posts here have helped me :)
