Hello everyone,

I am John Williams-age 66 on Monday. It is now 15 years on from a liver transplant,- 13 rejections, various complications including oedema, and a botched hernia operation.Just two years ago I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes - it took longer to diagnose my peripheral neuropathy. At last the neurology department of the Royal Free Hospital identified the problem ---- extreme pain in my feet and calves, tingling sensations and balance issues. Now, I take every day as it comes, I am retired, interested in art and poetry ---- at 60, I did an MA in Visual/Digital Art, at University of the Arts , Camberwell...I have had a life, been married, have grown up children----now, no ties, I live alone in my own space, with a garden studio.I feel complete as a person. Life is good ----- for every shadow, there must be light....

Hi John, and welcome to the forum. Your post makes it sound as though you are content despite everything you've been through although (and I'm sorry if i've misinterpreted) it also sounds as though you are resigned to whatever diabetes can throw at you. It doesn't have to be that way and the progress of diabetes can be slowed down with good management.

What are your BG levels like, are you checkiing them?
