Hello! First post on here! T1 diabetic, for two years now :)

I just had my eye screen results back and it said there had been moderate changes in one of my eyes! My last hb1ac was 40 and within the normal range! When I asked my consultant he just said I'm in the small percentage of people that they didn't understand! Can anyone give me some advise please? :) I don't know what else to do, apart from keep having good control ! J

what was you hba1c like before your last test of 40?

Sometimes if your hba1c drops too quickly, this can cause damage.

I too have background retinopathy and now I have m1 maculopathy in my r eye. I have done extensive research. All we can do is work on making sure our HBA1c stays below 48 and stable. Over time this should hopefully start repairing.

Heres an interesting story for you and one that will hopefully give you some peace of mind.

Thanks for the reply! I'll have a look at the article now

When I was first diagnosed it must have been around 84, then it dropped very quickly, and then the most recent is 40 from around six months ago! The consultant did say they can repair over time, which is postive
