Slightly nervous-new nurse- mine is on maternity leave.
DN extremely positive and all for low carbing. I was disappointed my fasting was 7.9 this time as opposed to 7.4 last time when I have been trying so hard with low carbing. BUT after my failed cardioversion the tablet I was taking has effectively killed my thyroid so I've only just been given levothyroxine to remedy this.
Cholesterol was very low 3.?
BP brilliant 114/83
Need to make another review for February and hopefully not been sidetracked by Christmas.
Aiming to lose at least 21 lbs and get my BS lower than 7.9
There was talk of adding a third metformin in.......
It's flipping hard work and I feel like one of those 'wibbles' (?) u throw things at them and they always come upright again . I just wish fewer things would keep getting thrown at me.

Hi
I read your story and like you am fed up of having more things happen to me. My consultant was amazed i lost 3.5 stone in weight, but that was because i went from having an overactive thyroid about 10yrs or so ago, then it went underactive and was put on levothyroxine, got to november last year and started to feel really ill, they thought it was my antidepressant but it turned out to be when they did a blood test i had toxosis from the thyroid meds, i was taken off them but am now borderline underactive again. I have also come off a strong pain killer which is causing me a lot of side effects (like detox, cold turkey) except they have given me something to help with horrible feelings. She moaned my HBA1C had gome up from 7.7 to 8.3 but i have had nothing but stress which does cause my sugars to raise so i wasn't surprised. That was good for me as they have usually been over 9, but like you cholestrol is very low, blood pressure was normal.
Hopefully your find the levothyroxine will help with your weight, but all these things take time and i wish you well in losing your 21 pound by xmas.
Take care
tracey

WAS it a fasting test, or was it your HbA1c? If it was just a fasting test, then it won't tell you much about how well you've been doing with your Low-carbing. A change in fasting, up or down, of 0.5 doesn't mean much. Particularly by the time you've got to the surgery. I imagine, as it was a review, that it was an HbA1c, but do you know?

It was my HbA1c.
I had a letter a couple of days later asking me to go back and have it repeated. So on Monday I have a repeat test and then on Weds I actually see the doctor not the DN. She's going to review my metformin and my thyroid meds.
I'm still all for low carbing . I worked out that I only really got serious about it - 60g a day - starting 24th September so it's very early days to change anything really. Particularly all those little haemoglobin goblins in my HbA1c.
From one uncureable chocoholic to another.....as they say once an addict always an addict :D
