I was due my next 6-monthly review and beginning to wonder if I should initiate contact when I got an appointment sent from by GP practice, asking me to take a urine sample. I went and was met by a nurse I know well from previous visits, but who is not my diabetic nurse, and clearly not completely au fait with the process. She took blood, did blood pressure, had a look at my feet, weighed me, asked a lot of lifestyle questions, I showed her my Libre results and we chatted a bit. I asked about issues with variable readings from new sensors, and she said she had heard of issues. Overall she appeared happy with everything and said they would be in touch after the blood test results came in.
About 3 days later I got 3 texts - 1. they are prescribing Folic Acid as my levels are low, 2. I have "mildly raised inflammatory markers", and 3. they have made a face-to-face with my GP for a diabetic review.
I got an appointment two days later and saw my GP (well one of the practice GP's!), and he said he was going to do my diabetic review! I said I though I had that the previous week, and he read my records, and said he needed to ask a few questions. Most were already answered by the previous review, which he was reading as he asked the questions, but he continued. My HbA1c is 65, which is down by 3, so was happy with that. He said the raised markers could be from a cold or flu (I have the annual jab), but were not of major concern, even though it will raise my blood sugars as my body fights whatever it is! He gave me advice on exercise (my weight has been constant for years, but I am carrying some extra weight!), and even mentioned Mounjaro, which he would talk to a senior colleague about, and I thought that was it.
2 days later I get a call from the diabetic nurse! Can I come in for my diabetic review?I told her I though I had had it - twice - but she said that was part 1, and this was the full review from a diabetic nurse! The upshot is that I have my "review" on August 22nd, which is a whole month after the review process started.
This is not what I have had in the past, and wondered if this was "normal" for anyone else.
