Well done @JohnEGreen Fantastic HbA1c.

I also wouldn't worry about your cholesterol. As mentioned above, did you fast for the test? If not, this may explain the high Trigs as they are affected by what we have recently eaten, especially if we had fats. Most surgeries tell us not to fast as it isn't necessary for an HbA1c, but it is necessary for a correct triglyceride result.
 
No I didn't fast for the test as it was in the late morning and the surgery had not requested me to do so maybe that did as you said affect the outcome.

Total serum cholesterol doesn't matter. HDL and TG do. TG should be under 1.7. If you can take long walks, eat LCHF. To raise HDL, eating eggs works for some people.

A puppy may not just for Christmas, but like LCHF, it can grow on you and be an enjoyable and healthgiving habit. I wouldn't give up my birthday puppy for the world! Same for LCHF.

Thanks again all for your positive and encouraging comments. I think that the cholesterol results though not too bad can do with improvement and maybe a little less saturated fats will help though I do like cheese. As the kidney problem is at stage two and so not considered chronic as yet there is time to deal with it and will see what doc has to say about it .

I am very happy with the results in fact over the moon and am never going back to high carbs again. and we have a puppy well not actually a puppy as she is a couple of years old so she will do..

I now love my LCHF diet, loved it from day 1 in fact. I have a very low carb diet most days, under 20 carbs approx. At the moment tucking into a plate of spiralized courgette and carrot 'spaghetti' flash fried in olive oil, garlic and a touch of salt, along with a few prawns. No idea of these carbs as I can't find my carb counter book at the moment!

If you believe Malcolm Kendrick, which I tend to, then cholesterol has very little to do with anything. Even HDL=good, LDL=bad is too simplistic. There is no doubt a very low cholesterol is very bad for you. Most doctors won't see it this way, but I would just ignore your cholesterol reading and stay LCHF - it is clearly working brilliantly for you.
