Having to forswear foods I have loved all my life.
Trying to find low carb meals when eating out.
This is a wonderful diabetic support group.
However the one thing that you can't do is meet real people in real life (like the pub or a cafe or coffee shop) and sit down and chat and support each other.
I am involved in some diabetes stuff with Diabetes Voices and other patient representative stuff with Diabetes UK but I am totally unaware of any diabetics who are in my local geographical area.
It strikes me that along with the wonderful support for newly diagnosed diabetics on this forum, some simple day to day support from the local community could help people through that difficult first six months post diagnosis.
So what does the forum think?
Is there mileage in setting up contact points in local areas where someone can meet a real person to talk over their problems?
Or is online the way to go?
Cheers
