A bit of TLC and the gardens will have your own identity stamped on them. Slow and steady. Some TLC for yourself, how about sitting back to admire your hard work tomorrow, then plan what you are going to invest in next at garden centre?Had a very busy day today, gardening. Yesterday I spent a large amount of money at the garden centre buying mostly perennials, plus a few shrubs for our new house.
We have 4 sections of garden, the front of the house, the front but to one side, the side, and the back. There is no grass, thank goodness. The house is elevated from the road, and the elevation continues at the back, so it is partially terraced. The back garden has a retaining wall to stop it falling into the patio and house. This is a wonderful dry stone wall. The garden areas are soil borders in nice irregular shapes and pea stone gravel with more big rocks and stones than I can count. No-one has lived here for 2 years, so it was neglected, extremely overgrown, and covered with knee high weeds. We paid a gardener and his 2 men to clear the weeds, cut back all the overgrown stuff and generally tidy it all up. It took the 3 of them 2 days. Now my work has to begin.
All the plants I bought yesterday have gone in the section in front of the house. It was hard work digging holes to plant them - an inch of top soil/compost, then solid clay and roots. Loads of compost has gone on, and my plants look wonderful. I am really pleased with it. I can't say the same for my old body! I will probably suffer a load of stiffness tomorrow and be unable to walk.Tomorrow I want to go back to the garden centre and spend a lot more money. Not sure Mr Blue agrees.
It might be just resting. Must admit we have been happy to be able to leave the lawn mower in the shed for the last 2 months. Can't stand gardening - we have fence to fence lawn that Alan cuts once a week (obviously not at the moment cos it's dead)

I would call it 'planning'. Very important phase.I shall see what happens with the weather. Today has been prefect gardening weather. Still very hot, but grey cloud and no sun with a cooling breeze making it just right and no longer as humid. Thursday is forecast to be hotter than ever. However, sitting back and admiring it sounds very tempting.

It's way too hot here to do anything except sitting in front of the fan with a wet towel. But I have to catch 11 guinea-pigs to bathe them to get rid of the skin infection they have. Wish me luck!
Got them and parked them in the bathroom to take a breakGood Luck, lad. Try doing the job at a paced rate ratner than going at it full pelt (no pun intended..... OK pun intended).
Got them and parked them in the bathroom to take a breakThey think the cage is too small (they have a point there) and are squeeking. They can squeek all they want, but I think both the guinea-pigs and I need to cool off from catching before scaring them even more with a bath. Will post a picture
