Had a very busy day today, gardening. Yesterday I spent a large amount of money at the garden centre buying mostly perennials, plus a few shrubs for our new house.
We have 4 sections of garden, the front of the house, the front but to one side, the side, and the back. There is no grass, thank goodness. The house is elevated from the road, and the elevation continues at the back, so it is partially terraced. The back garden has a retaining wall to stop it falling into the patio and house. This is a wonderful dry stone wall. The garden areas are soil borders in nice irregular shapes and pea stone gravel with more big rocks and stones than I can count. No-one has lived here for 2 years, so it was neglected, extremely overgrown, and covered with knee high weeds. We paid a gardener and his 2 men to clear the weeds, cut back all the overgrown stuff and generally tidy it all up. It took the 3 of them 2 days. Now my work has to begin.
All the plants I bought yesterday have gone in the section in front of the house. It was hard work digging holes to plant them - an inch of top soil/compost, then solid clay and roots. Loads of compost has gone on, and my plants look wonderful. I am really pleased with it. I can't say the same for my old body! I will probably suffer a load of stiffness tomorrow and be unable to walk.

Tomorrow I want to go back to the garden centre and spend a lot more money. Not sure Mr Blue agrees.
