@DiamondAsh
At the moment its just diet control and back to gp in a month no monitoring at home yet
You would be very lucky if your doctor gave you a meter without being on medication. Don't wait around for one, you can get them on the high street and they can point the right direction to what foods are best to avoid for your self. Everyone is a little different.Hopefully you'll get a meter soon off your doc to start monitoring. it gives a good idea of what your sugar levels are doing when you eat etc. I find it helps you feel more in control and less chance of blowing the diet.
Welcome Emzy, lots of data to get your head around in the start and you may be in a little shock still? I know I was for a while. But the site has lots of people to give useful advice and will try to point you the way ahead. Just remember everyone is different and type 2 can be a very personal journey but we are here to helpDiagnosed this morning with type 2. Unsure how I feel but guess its here to stay so I got to get my head round it all.

Not at all , I didn't think that... and I knew you weren't implying that! I was originally going to say get yourself a meter but I decided to hang fire... for some reason, don't quite know why. I am very pro-meter. I love having mine to check how my food has affected me. Without it I tend to eat too much.I wasn't implying that you were being bossy at all DiamondAsh,just wanted to point out the difference in some treatment areas I've noticed. Some very good Dr's do give them out as you can't tell what sort of food is good for your levels unless you have something to measure them with. But in most places its not done. Whether it's the official reasons or level go up and down daily so only a 3 month average can be trusted or we are just unqualified to understand them. Or what I suspect the truth which is cost of the refills on a state service.
Sorry if you thought I was having a dig , I wasn't
