Diagnosed today T2 Diabetic

The diagnosis didn't come as a huge shock as the symptoms have been awful the last few weeks with extreme thirst, going to the toilet every hour during the night. I am exhausted. Constant thrush and blurry eyesight.
I already have a lot of health conditions I'm living with and I could have done without another one.
I'm a bit overwhelmed about what i can and cannot drink and eat.. I've been craving fruit and icey juice the last month which obviously hasn't helped my blood sugars. My levels are currently 19.8

Hi @sarahlouisebythesea and welcome to the forum and the club no one wants to join!
There are many of us here who have got our blood sugars under control by adopting a low carbohydrate way of eating as carbohydrates turn to sugar once digested. No rush to reduce them quickly you’ll feel better if you go slowly. Here’s a link to an item about low carb lifestyle:
Many of us have used self monitoring of blood sugars to learn the affect of different foods have on us.
Ask any questions you have, non are silly, there’ll always be someone to help you

Hi @sarahlouisebythesea and welcome.
You will start to feel better as the sugars reduce, just be aware you may get a few different symptoms, often called the keto flu, while they do, but it's only tem and is short lived.
Simplest is eat only real, one word , one ingredient food, meat, fish, eggs , veg, dairy, nuts olives
And take your time to learn. No one gets it all right, first time. A bg meter will be your friend showing you what your body can tolerate. We are all different and this is a marathon, a way of eating for life, not a sprint or a short term diet so it has to fit your life,
We were all in shock when first diagnosed, and we are still here!
