Hi I was diagnosed type 2 in june.Recently I have once again started to wake minimum twice a night to go to the loo and again have a dry mouth and need to drink a lot before I get back to sleep. I also feel shaky and quite ill .I am on metformin 500gms 1 twice a day.Can anyone tell me whats going on as I seem to be back where I started.

Hi Sandra,

those sound like standard symptoms. Have you got a test kit to get some readings when this happens?

Hi yes I have a test kit and tonight if I wake up again I will take a reading .I always take a reading 1st thing in the morning this varies between 7 and 9 .At the moment I feel rough and have had nothing to eat since late breakfast at 11 my reading is 4.2.I feel so stupid like its in control of me rather than me being in control

Well 4.2 is going to feel low if you're fasting at between 7 and 9. You posted that message at 4:20pm, it's coming on for 8pm now so hopefully you've eaten something. There are lots of things that won't touch your levels much - plain yoghurt, peanuts - or eggs, mushrooms. One piece of toast wont spike you too much and you can pile a lot on a piece of toast :D (egg, ham, mushrooms)

Someone much more knowledgeable will come along soon I'm sure, but remember that you still need to eat . Good luck :D

Hi Sandra,

As Swimmer says, you need to find out what your BGs are when you have these episodes. Also, I would get an appointment back at your GP. Explain your symptoms and ask for another HbA1c to see how you've been for the last couple of months. Your symptoms are indicative of high BG, but could be something else entirely. Best to get it checked.

Good luck
