You have to just go along and listen to what is being said. You will be given some leaflets and maybe a personal plan, diet advice will be given  and information on eye, foot, and other care/testing you should have. You need to know what the blood sugar tests results were, get them written down so you can understand them. You have to take control of your diabetes, you have to learn how to manage things day to day, sure the doctor or nurse will offer help and advice but day to day it's up to you. The most important things are diet, exercise and weight. If you get those thre right I can guarantee you T2 will be under control. If you don't get things under control then the doc. will put you on medication pretty quickly, it's up to you as to whether or not you want to follow that path. Some of us need medication (I do) but many can manage very well without. You have a steep learning curve, at first it is hard but you will soon get the hang of it. Do not be in a mad rush to try to change things overnight, it took a long time to get T2 and it will take some months to get things under control. Good luck and when you have any questions ask here, ask the nurse or Doc. and do what you think is the best for you. H
