Hi Guys, I have been having problems on and off with Carpel tunnel in my right wrist it keeps swelling of a night then both of my hands end up swelling like balloons then I can't sleep as the pain from the swelling is so bad. I lasts for a few hours then goes away. Then by morning time I'm so tired from not sleeping well that I over sleep and it ends up nearly afternoon time in bed when I wake up they feel like balloons again and hurt what can I do? I am on Amitriptyline only 10mg as I was trying to avoid over sleeping in mornings as life just thrown away and doesn't help pain and on Gabapentin 200mg three times a day. But the pain is so bad I'm over sleeping still. I have had troubles getting up morning times from lack of sleep for 2mths now due to other pains in middle of night just don't want another added on. My levels are quite good now levelling out 5.0, 6.1ml and 7.2ml just don't know what to do. Anyone else has experienced this I would be happy to hear your story as want to know if this is normal or so I can relate to other people and know that I'm not going mad lol.

I had this when I was pregnant and for about a year afterwards. It eventually went without any treatment. I think it was because I had put on a lot of weight quite quickly when I was pregnant and losing weight helped resolve it in my case. I found wearing splints very helpful, I even wore them at night when the pain was bad as they held my wrists steady. Also, avoid turning things like jar lids - that really hurts! Also wear splints when doing heavy work.
