Hi I've currently got uncontrolled blood sugar and a t2 diagnosis with 2 lots of medication not having much impact. I took part in a research study (t1rda) and they called to say I have t1 and need a change of diagnosis. As its research they have to retest my bloods to confirm.
I have an appointment with diabetes nurse at end of the month to review meds anyway and blood is consistently 15-20 which she is aware of.
Now I've been told I am t1 NHS may need to do their own tests to confirm I'm not sure. My question is how urgent is it to see the nurse given the new information? Can it wait 2 weeks?

HI - Unfortunately I can't answer your question, but wanted to ask how long after you submitted your blood sample for T1dra did you receive results ? I did the test a few weeks ago and haven't heard anything other than they had received the sample. Thanks

I did mine in November and only heard now! So a good length of time!

There is no way to tell.
You might be fine, but being consistently above 15 with T1 holds a small risk for DKA. Which is an emergency that can land you on the ICU very quickly.

I would try to get hold of your nurse sooner, and at least buy some ketostix so you can check for ketones should you feel unwell.
If you get any symptoms like nausea, belly ache, vomiting, a funny smell on your breath (pear drops, acetone), or a strange way of breathing, don't waste any time but get to a hospital.

With such a long time between the test and hearing the results, chances are you'll be ok for another 2 weeks.
But be aware of the risks and alarm signs.

Good luck!
