Diagnosis, possible MODY

I have identical twin nieces aged 7, and for the past 2 years my sister has been requesting help in regards to their blood sugars and moods.
They are only now being tested for MODY. Their blood sugars fluctuate massively, ranging from 3.2 to 20.3! They feel sick most of the time, especially when their blood sugars drop suddenly but their diabetic nurses have said that fluctuating sugars would NOT effect how they feel.
I'm a type 1 diabetic and my eldest sister also has type 1 diabetes. We have been diabetic for 16 years, so it runs in the family. The diabetic team are refusing to admit that they could have early onset diabetes as they only have 1-8 ketones, which apparently isn't high enough! My nieces are awaiting genetic testing for MODY.
My nieces are also suffering from severe anxiety attacks and this seems to be effected by how their blood sugars have been running.
Any thoughts or personal experiences would be gratefully received.

Hello and welcome the forum. I'm personally not aware of any MODY members here, but maybe one of the moderators like @catherinecherub will recall.

I really worry when so called health care professionals make completely ludicrous statements like that fluctuating sugars would not affect how they feel - absolute balderdash!

The site Blood Sugar 101 is run by a person who has MODY, so you might find some useful information there or on her blog. Following are the results of a search query on MODY at the site:
