I have recently been diagnosed with type 2.My fasting test was 6.3.THE GLUCOSE TEST was 6.2 and 11.1 after 2 hours. My Hae test was 6.3, urine negative. When I went for the glucose test the liquid was transported in an open top container.Previous test 3 years ago was a sealed bottle .I have queried this with GP how do I know that the correct amount and strength of liquid was correct.Dr has agreed to another test Anybody advise me pleased diagnosed on 11.1 and no other positive blood glucose reading.

Welcome to the forum abbo. Some nurses mix up their own glucose test but from a strict formula. Please have a good look round the forum and ask if you can't find something.I would say that a fasting test of 6.3 shows you are highly likely to be diabetic but that is up to your doctor to decide.

:P hi abbo and welcome. sounds as if you are. i had the same sort of results when i was diagnosed with type 2 at christmas. went to the nurse for my check up today (my second as we have a great surgery). i have lost 18lbs and my blood pressure and bg hba1c are good. i admit i was a bit of a couch potato pre diabetes. i now swim and do aqua aerobics and am careful what i eat. i do eat some carbs but always wholemeal bread etc. am cutting them down a bit as i need to loose another stone. good luck! maisiesgranny

Technically I am "not diabetic" because I "only" scored 10.8, yet strangely I still had several diabetic complications.

IMO the diagnosis is not as important as the treatment

this really needs to be applied as soon as you start to veer away from "normal", the sooner you start the less likely you are to disintegrate

Most of my numbers now are between 4 and 6 and my lipids and blood pressure are hugely improved
