The information and support I have received from my doctor has been rubbish. On initial diagnosis I was sent a letter confirming diabetes ( it was picked up in a routine eye test ) no results no other information ( my blood reading was very very high) , no meds and had to wait 5 weeks to see a nurse. Everywhere I turn there is a culture of diabetes mismanagement. I find it astounding, if it wasn't for this forum I would be floundering in the dark and probably making myself ill. A friend gifted me a diabetic cookbook, we rolled around laughing at it, every recipe had carbs in one form or another portions with 80 odd grams of carbs, that would send me into the high teens blood wise. Whole section on sweets and pancakes etc, hilarious.
