Since being diagnosed T1 in April I have found that certian things no longer taste the same (infact somethings I have gone right off such as diet coke and squash which I often drank during the day before. In fact some things taste too sweet!

I was just curious am I alone in this or is it fairly common?

I don't know if this is common or not but my son complained for quite a while that thigs didn't taste the same. In fact for the first month all he ate was rice krispies, even they taste funny to him now. He was diagnosed at Easter and is 11.

I know that is of no help to you but at least you know you aren't the only one it's happened to!

Kind regards

I often find things taste too sweet - you don't realise how over-sweetened a lot of foods are until you avoid sugar as part of your everyday diet.

I have also found that I have become a lot more sensitive to spicy foods since beginning treatment for T2. I used to love hot curries and chilis but these days, anything more than a rogon josh or a mild chili is a no-no.
