Just been reading about people on Low carbs high fat diets. I get a bit muddled with all the different types of food. Can someone please tell me a typical day's food that would fit this criteria? Thanks

Hello lynbrown, welcome to the forum,i'll tag @daisy1 who will provide you with an info pack for new posters, this will cover most of what you'd like to know, my typical days food is breakfast 2 eggs, mushrooms, blitzed with 1 tablespoon of almond flour,1 tablespoon of fine milled flax ,blended together and fried in coconut oil, lunch , 3 sausages(97%meat) and green salad, dinner poached fillet of rainbow trout with fennel ( with lots of butter)
This is just one day the things we call high fat are avocado's ,bacon , most meats without the fat trimmed off, eggs, oily fish ,sardines, cheeses, have a look on this forum at the " what have you eaten today for some ideas,
Ps come back when you have more q's and someone will answer you, clive

Today was smoked cheese slices and tea for breakfast; more cheese and some dried bacon strips for a wee snack; avacado with a little mayo plus a few wee strawberries for lunch, followed by cinnamon tea. At that point very very very few carbs. Dinner was burgers (without buns!) broccoli and cauliflower. I had half a beer and an ice lolly coz I need to show defiance somewhere!. Levels were averaged 6.8 over the day. I check my levels before I eat and two hours after..that informs me as to what's upping my blood sugar and what's not..and I record the details. Check out all the info on low carbs here on the site. And..be sure to get fit asparagus in - it has a good effect generally.

Low Carb 101, i.e. from scratch would be www.dietdoctor.com/lchf

Basically, you ditch all the beige processed stuff - the bread, pasta, pastry, grains, breakfast cereals, rice, noodles, pizza, pasties, porridge - in favour of real, unprocessed food. That lowers your blood glucose so it lowers your insulin, so you lose weight.

Some people choose to eat carbs which their body tolerates and they test their blood glucose in order to do it.
