has anyone tried to or are dieting and giving up smoking at the same time?
i need to do both for my diabetes and health.
is it hard to do both at the same time?

I'd say they are 2 different things entirely ..... one is an addiction, the other is the adoption of a lifestyle. That said, they could also be easily viewed in tandem. If it was me, smokes gone first, then the diet

Good luck @ally1

I did both last year but only lasted 5 weeks off the cigs though diet went ok.

If you struggle with the cigs you could try an electronic cigarette. Asda are doing a good little starter kit for £10.

Good luck :)

i have bought a liquid electronic cigarette, just need to set a date to stop

I stopped smoking 8 years ago, was a 40-60 cigs a day girl for 20 years !
I used patches for 2 weeks then went cold turkey because I had a bad reaction to the patches.
You can do it Ally !!! :D

We all think when we are smokers that giving up will be really hard and we will not be able to do it. The main key to success is that you really have to want to do it. I was a 20 a day smoker for over 40 years and one morning I got up and said I am giving it up I will never smoke again and I never did. I did not use any nicotine aids just normal chewing gum which I constantly chewed for the first two weeks and believe me it was so much easier to stop than I ever thought possible and after a couple of weeks the craving which had not been bad had gone and I didn't even need the chewing gum any more. That was ten years ago and the best thing I ever did
