Hi,
Basically around a month ago i had a severe hypo which i believe was related to a high fat meal (lots of lasagne) which delayed the rate the carbs were absorbed so the insulin kicked in and made me hypo first.
Since then ive basically cut out fat as im scared it will happen again, ive just been eating lots of carbs and protein but ive noticed that now ive basically cut out fat i am always hungry!
No wonder, you can still eat fat but just be aware of the effect it has, high-fat meals delay the absorption of carbs hence why you need to be careful when bolusing, often a split-dose or an extended bolus (if on a pump) would be an option.

Well meals like lasagne, full-english breakfast and take-away foods are examples of high fat meals, but how fat (and how much of it) effects your bg control is an individual matter and not an easy one to answer I'm afraid.
I struggled with feeling hungry all the time, and then what made the difference was upping the fat.
Obviously you had a bad scare, but you might try again. I get the impression that this delay factor is part of the 'pizza effect,' which is very particular because you have lots of fat combined with a very high carb dose. I eat lots of fat (relatively) in a low carb context, but my BG follows a normal time profile. I never get these long delays.
You might try googling the classic 'pizza effect' article.
