Diagnosed about 2 years ago, on metformin 1 od for 12 months and atorvastatin, aspirin because everyone should apparently. I have no idea what my diet should be. Doctors say lots of carbohydrates, you people (who surely should know best) say little or no carbohydrates. Doctors say no sweet things apart from an occasional digestive biscuit (McVities have lowest sugar), little or no alcohol. Looking now at this website (I enrolled today) I could be having lots and lots of lovely things (I'm a chocoholic who likes a glass of wine, cider or bacardi & lemonade occasionally ) - maybe once or twice a week. For over 6 months the chocolate intake is pradctically nil, the alcohol is much reduced. I am maybe 1stone or less overweight. My annual blood test taken by the Dr was just over 2.5 (when I take my own blood sugar it is varies between 6 or so and 9 or 10). I spend my life checking sugar contents of foods in Tesco . My cholesterol is quite low so no problem there, IU am quite a couch potato, but generally healthy.
What I would like is a diet leaflet that specifically says, cut out this that and the other, take this or whatever in moderation and eats lots of this. Does this exist????
Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!
