A lot of conflicting advice on diet - is it best to take a low-carb diet, or simply cut out sugars and fat?
Practically all carbs turn to glucose (sugar) once ingested, so you want to avoid those. There's 3 macro-nutrients, fats, protein and carbs... And you don't actually need carbs. Cut those out, up the fats, keep protein moderate (Fats don't convert to sugars, protein can, but not as dramatically as carbs do). If you cut out both carbs and fats, you'll most likely be hungry all the time and get malnourished. And no-one wants you to get scurvy. You need to get your micro-nutrients from somewhere, (vitamins, minerals), and those are in fats and protein. So... Turns out, fat's your friend!
Have some eggs with bacon. Salad with tuna, salmon or warmed goat's cheese. Above-ground veggies with meat, poultry or fish. Cheese, cream, full fat greek yoghurt, nuts etc etc etc... That way you get your bloodsugars under control. I don't know what medication you're on though, if any... If on Gliclazide or similar, a diet change like that will probably cause a hypo, so don't try it if you don't have your own meter and some medical guidance. If you're just on metformin, you'll be fine changing your diet.

If you have questions, toss them out there, there's always someone here who knows the answer(s).
