Hi all,

I am currently attempting the Special K diet as I am desperate to lose weight, but it is leaving me feeling hungry and hypoing

Anyone got any tips on healthy low carb snacks as well as healthy hypo treatments?

I just want to get back to the weight I was in my last year at school!

I am 19 years old btw and a pump user

If you correctly match the carbs to the cereal you shouldn't hypo.

Try fruit juice as a hypo treatment if you don't want sweets/coke etc

You could try snacking on fruit or berries. 60g blueberries is 9g carb. I sometimes have them to pick at when I'm at my desk other fruit requires insulin, but it is a healthy alternative to other snack options

Cheese is basically no carb. Or a few nuts but not too many!

Thank you! I guess I must be miscalculating somewhere! And what type of cheese as I thought they was fatty?

It is bit it's better fat than some other fat. Just don't have too much of it. It's filling though. And you get low calorie ones now too

Oh that's good then I shall have a look out then thank you for your help

Hi. Nuts are good and I agree your insulin may need reducing a bit to avoid hypos with lower carbs. Don't worry too much about fats; there is a lot of discussion currently in the media about the origins of the 'low-fat' fashion and the fact that it was based on bad data. Just keep the fats unsaturated where you can e.g. fish, omega 3 etc.

Guess I will be doing a Basal rate test again haha thank you though
