Dieting with Diabetes

Hi,
I have been diabetic for 19 years and its now very well controlled apart from the fact that I'm struggling to stick to points when dieting.
I have tried reducing my insulin levels to eat less (although still eating enough carbs) but find that I'm having low blood sugar nearly everyday, what am I doing wrong? I can't exercise because I have no energy and I cant eat more because I'm trying to stick to my points per day.
I feel like I'm in a vicious circle........
:x
Any comments would be great thanks

What kind of eating plan are you following? Low fat/low calorie doesn't work well with diabetes. A low carb plan tends to work better.I get the impression that you think you need carbs. You need very little even with T1.
diet plans like Atkins, South Beach and Protein Power tend to work better for diabetics. Weight watchers and Slimming world claim to be applicable to diabetics, but I followed WW to the letter and lost about 2 pounds in many months. that was before I discovered tight control and low carb. I have now lost 37 pounds and getting BGs in the 4s. Just by going low carb. The weight loss is now very slow, but at least I'm not gaining and those BG numbers are on target.
I do water exercises twice weekly too

If you let us know more about your insulin regime and doses and what you are eating and when the hypos are occurring in relation to all this we may be able to advise you on the adjustments that would give you better matching of your insulin to your meals.
