(If this has been asked before, I apologise. I couldn't find the answer easily.)

I've just discovered that rice (not even industrial quantities) spikes my blood sugar something wicked, whereas bread, oats and pasta don't. Huh? What the heck is going on?

Did others find that one particular carb did them bad things before the others, or is it just my own peculiar physiology?

Grateful for any explanations / thoughts.

Jo

Hi yes different carbs do different things to different people, it all depends on what works for you. Although you will also get different spikes depending on what you have with your carbs. for example if you ate 100g of carbs in pasta and had a rich carbonara sauce and had the same quantity of pasta again but had just chopped tomatoes and a few spices the spikes and the bg afterwards would be very different. Trial and error with lots of testing is the key.
