I am old fashioned so rude people, swearing , lack of good manners.
People trying to make me live in fear of complications instead of encouraging me to enjoy life. especially those who have never bothered to educate themselves about T1 diabetes.
People who eat/sleep/drink their diabetes, and let it rule their life!
I was told at Boots Chemists in Shrewsbury, that their suppliers had been out of Freestyle Freedom Light blood testing strips for several weeks. They also told me they would not have any more in for some weeks, they could not tell me when they would have more. It took them nearly an hour to find some at a different chemists - and then only half my usual supply. So I have had to buy a different machine which contains 10 strips, so that I can feel safe for a day or two if they do not get in any more supplies.

Anyone else had this problem with obtaining these strips at Boots. I am trying to work out if this is a tale I was given, or if the UK is having problems with supply of these. If so I think I will change my prescription to another make of blood testing equipment.

This is the first time in over 50 years I have had a problem of this kind.

Hi
I had this problem about a month ago, I was told the strips would take a week to arrive. I was sceptical like you and rang Abbott directly, and was told there was a hold up with their supplies from Europe. They also sent me 40 strips to tide me over, so it might be worth you doing the same.
When I recieved my prescription the test strips were in different packaging from the usual, and I can only presume that the change in packaging had caused the delay.
Must admit I was in a bit of a panic too as I've never had such a prob in 22 yrs.
Give Abbot a ring
Justine :)

Hi Janabelle,

Thank you for your reply and the information it contained.

Yesterday I e-mailed Abbott and this is a copy of their response. I include it here in case anyone else is having the same problem.

Thank you for your email.
