Hiya,

I hope you don't mind me asking, but are you not able to work because of diabetic complications eg loss of vision/limb etc? If that is the case and you have been told you're not fit enough to work then I am surprised you don't get something.

I think it's the case that you don't get any benefits if you just have diabetes. But if your diabetes is combined with complications or other medical conditions that mean you are unfit for work then you can get benefits - someone will correct me if I'm wrong on that.

I get disability benefits and incapacity benefit (that's no longer given to new applicants though) - I get these because of the mixture of diabetes and other medical conditions I have that add up together to mean I can't work.

I would suggest that you contact your local citizen's advice bureau because they will be able to tell you what you could be entitled to and what help you can get. If you are not able to work then, basically, you should be entitled to benefits!

And as an aside, I'm sorry you're in such a tough situation - I hope you're able to get some help and that things start improving!
