I haven’t been on for a while, lots have happened my daughter was diagnosed with bowel cancer but after treatment all is ok it has gone but she still has to have an operation.
I am still up and down with my weight but hba1c has come down from 69 to 55 but kidney rate is now 33.
I read about Lisa Riley losing 12 Stone in 18 months on a low carb diet.
So as always I bought the book very disappointed as it is very little low carb she eats fruit which I do not, which I do not and most of the recipes are not that low.
Only difference is she was exercising quite a bit which I cannot.
So I am sitting down getting ideas from her book BUT making my own meals from it but omitting the foods I don’t eat.
I have given up salt completely and trying to drink at leat three pints per day.
So I am keeping going I am so fed up of carrying all this weight about.
So I will be back on now more often.

Sending best wishes to your daughter.

Good to see you back - and I am sorry that your daughter (and you) have had to go through such a terrible ordeal.
Glad she has had some good news though, even if there is still an operation.

Sorry I should have put that 33 is the filtration rate that is what they are working at.

Thank you so much for your messages it’s so good to be back xx

Sorry to hear about your troubles.
When diabetes and kidney failure are often linked you think someone would get their ahead around doing some simple recipes that cover both.
I think everyone gets fed up of reading labels or scanning them and having to work out what they can eat. If they would just put the scan bar on the front of the label under the contents then at least you wouldn't have to take it off the self or out of the fridge. Aldi put the scan bar all the way round the product.

Looking at the list I do not know what I would do without plain chocolate and nuts.
I find frozen herbs change the taste of a stock food. I make a basic stock food sauce out of something I can eat, and keep in the fridge. When I make the meal I cook the protein in meal in the herbs and spices and then add the stock sauce.
Sometimes I think dieticians do not like food or people, they manage to make food sound disgusting.

Honeyend I don’t buy any tin food, I only eat 5 very small potatoes once or twice I did today with roast chicken and cabbage and spinach but most of the time I have salad tonight ham with sliced tomato
I don’t eat fruit the odd piece of cheese the odd Ryvitas I would normally have three dry for breakfast nothing else as they swell in the stomachs I like chicken with just sauce and the very odd ice cream when very hot.
I drink mineral water decafe tea and coffee do have a meal Out once a week why do I find it so hard to lose weight cannot exercise I am having very few calories but it’s not working don’t understand.
Won’t use Lisa’s book unless I alter foods as she eats all I don’t eat.

I haven't seen the book. Is it written with T2 diabetes in mind, or is it just another celebrity biographical recipe book?

@Motherhen2014 , I understand how difficult it can be for some of us to lose weight. I live it!

If you are keen on the low carb way how about checking out

I am worried as to why you have given up salt???

I am worried as to why you have given up salt???

Because my consultant who is keeping an eye on my kidneys says it is not doing them any good and need to give up the salt I don’t miss being without it anymore.

Lovely to see you back @Motherhen2014.

Family life is very full on here too. My life will never be the same with my addition of now 5 and a half year old monster. Ha ha He's running us all ragged. We're exhausted. He's 100miles an hour, even til late. No.1 son has got more than he bargained for after asking for a brother, bless him.
Its lovely to hear positive things are occurring in your family life too.

Lack of sleep effects my bgs, even more so now. Although his night terrors are now much more understood so therefore far less stressful for me and hopefully him.

I bet the stress must have played havoc to your management.
I was getting stressed about being stressed due to its effects. A great psychologist attached to my diabetes team has been a huge help. Of whom I'm now discharged from.

I too cannot exercise much but I try and walk everyday a set distance but I have to sit on people's garden walls. Which isn't nice is blazing sun nor rain. I often wished my designated tree bark seat outside a school wasn't facing the sun, nor water logged. I'm used to putting holes in my leggings which I've assigned to the job from sitting on bricks in our old fashioned area.
Mr ickihun has taken over the washing the clothes job with my pelvic/back problem. He thought I was complaining over nothing until he had the extra clothes to wash.

Thank you Ikihun I have a four year old grandson and seven year old granddaughter who never sit still, love having them over they keep me young, as much as I love them it’s nice when they leave and I can relax.

I am now trying to look for a post of someone who put a receipt on here of beef and pork mince vegetable chilli it was only 5 carbs but having a prob finding it.
No calories listed but as I am very over weight I need to watch calories anyway I will find the member.
