Disappointing BG levels after meal...

I've been obsessing about my BG figures and am only happy if I rest in the 5s!

Today I awoke with a BG level of 4.8 at 7.30am

After tidying the lounge and kitchen I had a cheese and mushroom omlette, with some spinach thrown in @ 9am along with some Lamberts supplements, chromium and vit B complex, and a tablespoon of linseed oil.

@10am my BG levels were 6.3, they always shoot up after I take these supplements.

I was on the go all day and didn't eat until 6pm. I wasn't hungy and certainly not avoiding food! I had two pork chops from aldi, some cauliflower mash made with butter, seasoned with salt and pepper and a big portion of cabbage in a double cream, parmesan, cheddar and mustard sauce. I had one glass of dry white wine, Sauvignon Blanc.

On testing an hour later my BG was 6.8! Afte a meal like that it usually doesn't venture out of the 5s. Am I being riduculous? I didn't take my BG before the meal, did my going without food for 9 hours produce a spike?

Doc,6.8 is not the end of the world!!Worry if you are in double figures!!If you are under 7 after a meal that is a good thing, don't stress over such a small rise.

If you test before a meal and then 2 hours after and the numbers are much the same it means that the meal you have eaten had the right amount of carbs for you without 'spiking' your blood sugar levels.Even a non diabetic will show a raise in blood sugar levels after a meal,it's the amount of time it takes to return to normal that is the important factor.I would not be worried if mine went up to 6.8 after a meal.

theres nothing to worry about with those numbers doc, theyre great, id be pleased with myself if i was you :D :D

Next time you're that busy try testing, and at least *before* eating. It's very likely your liver decided to help you out. I use small snacks of carbs with fat and protein to stop mine doing that, like an oatcake with nut butter, ryebread with butter (SMALL slice), dried fruit and many nuts etc.

It's far from a bad result but if you know you could do better try fiddling around with snacks and balancing them against the activity. It takes time to dot all the Is and cross all the Ts.
