Disposal of Sharps Boxes.
Today i was looking for how to dispose of 6 x 1L Sharps boxes containing Used/Contaminated paraphernalia on the Internet from my Diabetes, with no clear information of how to do it, after being informed by my Diabetic Nurse, a phone number (that also had something to do with my Local Council) that I lost.
I use blood testing and Injecting sharp devices that become contaminated with blood that need to be disposed of legally and safely, deposited into a sharps box.
Do not Dispose of Sharps box in any regular bin collection (e.g. brown, blue, green bins) .
My experience's with sharps boxes are as follows (I live in East Riding of Yorkshire England and hold a NHS Prescription Charge Certificate for free prescriptions).
This "probably", "will", vary from person to person and Councils in England Ireland Scotland and Wales.
When the Sharps box is full you can contact your local council to pick them up for you free of charge by phone or by filling in a small online request form.
Please take note and read "All Instructions" on your council's website pertaining to your search.

1) In (e.g. Google) Search engine put in "your" local council name and click search
2) In the/your "individual" councils home/main page search engine. put > "Clinical Waste" and click search. This should take you to (the/close to) an Explanation to What How and When your "Sharps Boxes" can be disposed of free, by contacting the appropriate department by Phone or on line booking. Again This "probably", "will", vary from councils in England Ireland Scotland and Wales.

My Sharps boxes are Provided for me via my Doctor (GP) on a Prescription (Repeat Prescription) as and when I need one.
I hope this helps, possibly consider it as a sticky.
