Hi all

Have had a quick look but can't find the answer to this anywhere.

I've just come to the end of my first pre-filled insulin pen. How do I dispose of it now?! Does it have to go in the sharps bin or will it be ok in the normal household bin? I don't suppose anyone could get anything out of it as the dial no longer moves.

sorry, know it's a daft question but thought I would get a quicker answer from you peeps on here than from my drs.

Thanks!

Jayne

Hi Jayne

I asked the same question on here before and many came back and said that as long as you have emptied the cartridge of insulin the pen can be put in with your plastics (if you do plastic recycling in your area) or in the normal waste. I asked this cos the Sharps box would have been full in no time otherwise.

Hope this helps

Yvonne

You can put it in general waste, but I personally prefer to recycle it - save the planet and all that. :)

mine in my plastics bin, sharps bin to my surgery and they send it away for me. Anna.x :D
