Dissapointment over appointment cancellation.

Hi all,
Well here i am thursday morning after having my appointment cancelled yesterday morning.Im obviously feeling a bit deflated today after not being able to see my DN weds, after recieving a phone call from my practice concerning illness.
I know it may seem strange but i was really looking forward to the appointment and finding out wether she would let me have a monitor and strips on prescription,this after being told of her enthusiasm for self testing by type 2 diabetics at the diabetic clinic.My new appointment has now been moved to the 4th jan and i shall wait in anticipation of a favourable outcome.

4th jan seems a long time. I don't think I could wait that long, the testing feels so important to me as it's the only guide I have about what food I can and can't get away with, and what if you need medication? I'd be badgering for an earlier slot.

I understand what your saying as im having the same problem with monitoring.Maybe i should have added in my last post that im testing with a system and strips that i am having to buy at the moment so was hoping for a positive outcome with my DN. Everything at the moment seems all over the place with the testing so hopefully i may be able to get in to see the GP earlier.As many people have posted the strips are so expensive and it takes time to find foods that suit so any help would be gratefully recieved. After being diagnosed early oct it just seems a long time, 3 months to find if medication is going to be prescribed.I maybe should add i have never had a reading below 6.0 and the highest i have had is 14.7 .I have been taking a simvastin 40 mg tablet at night since mid october.I would also like to add that since finding Diabetes.co.uk i dont feel so alone as there is so much information and help on the site that is so invaluable you always feel there is always someone and help available should you need it.
