I am back home from a trip to A&E and an overnight in hospital due to DKA. One scary experience. My question is really about recovery, I feel soooo tired and emotional and all my muscles ache. I've done nothing but sleep and get up to eat today. How long is this likely to carry on? I wasn't given any advice when I left hospital about after effects or care. I have said I will go back to work tomorrow but I am concerned now that I am pushing myself too hard. Any advise appreciated.

I was told to take the week off work following dka. It wasnt really until a week after where i was able to function as normal

Thank you. I guess I will see how I am feeling. First time (and last hopefully) I have ever experienced DKA and had no idea while I was in hospital that I would feel like this now.

Hope you're feeling better very soon. DKA is a scary thing. Rest and look after yourself

What happened if you don't mind me asking, was the DKA due to illness or missed injections?

You would have thought before they discharged you they would have given you some information and advice, anyway I hope you recover soon @Lchallis39

Shamed to say 'fed up with being diabetic' been diagnosed since 2008 and generally managed well (ish) but had a complete melt down and stopped injecting. Won't do that in a hurry! No advise given on discharge except to do my injections. Feel like I have been run over by a steam roller. Diabetic team are supposed to be calling me tomorrow but that was all the advice i was given

A hard lesson learnt @Lchallis39

I'm pleased your diabetes team are calling tomorrow, you should tell them that you've been fed-up of late and see if they can offer any help & support.
