yeah they are high but no ketone readings I'm in the hands of nurse I'm afraid that's why I asked and wanted feedback. been told not to worry about the high readings in the short term and to have approx 30g carbs with each meal which I know is not the advice from the majority! I've already put on this thread a lot of people who have commented on my thread will be very surprised with the dietary advise I know for a fact I will get again tomorrow ! I'll post after my appointment . thanks for the reply because I'm of the opinion voids have been far too high since I came out of hospital but I'm still being told not to worry!Hi mate,
15.3 - 17.5 are very high readings and dangerous!
Don't eat wholemeal toast anymore. That will spike your BG to dangerous levels.
Just have eggs and bacon, with mushrooms or tomato. Watch out your portions. Eat in small amounts spread throughout the day.

already asked. they haven't got one and have only referred me on the list for the next Desmond course.Tell your GP to arrange a meeting with the Dietitian asap!
thankyou. I'm so annoyed though after having great control and results for about 1 year and basically eating anything I want and hba1c dropping below 50 then just a couple of life setbacks and 3 weeks of not looking after myself and drinking because of depression has screwed my body up again! just hope I can get it back! lesson learnt the hard way never to take this thing for granted because it will bite you on the ****! thanks again for the advise and the links.I've learnt so much from the 'low-carb programme' by this website. It will teach you about portion sizes, which foods to eat and avoid and how often so that you won't feel hungry and won't spike your BG levels.
Good luck tomorrow.
cheers. I've just looked at joining the low carb group and found I'm already a member! must have signed up when first diagnosed a few year ago ! having a watch of the videos nowI can understand your frustration mate.
This is a lifestyle change - for life and we've go to stick with it.
Be creative with your food intake, cooking, meal preparations. Go for Low-glycemic vegetables. Avoid starchy foods including bread.
If you love bread so much, make your own Ketogenic Bread and it's very low carb.
Loads of links on YouTube about low-carb bead and cakes.
Dip it in butter to give you energy.
i dont think anybody is criticising the doctors particularly me seeing as they have just saved my life but the NHS guidelines seem to vastly different to the majority of the advice on this forum particularly dietary advice where carbs are concerned. it's all about opinions and they are all really useful thankyouI think we're sometimes a bit quick to slate the nurse's / doctors. I can completely see why they would want you to stick to your normal diet and monitor your BG levels right now. If they stay up despite the meds then something needs to change, but if you go very low carb then it'll be hard to track.
Just my view.....
