Was told to visit the Dr due to my cholesterol being high. I decided to see my old dr as in not the young one who l had huge argument with first time round over statins. Also had DN check up. Armed myself with links about cholesterol and LDL high fat low carb diets effects. In first to see Dr and before he had a chance to say anything l asked for a vitimin D test possibly calcium and why, also queried B12. He muttered it is winter your D will be low B12 we will do yearly and proceeded to do a couple of sheets out for blood tests. He did not bring up cholesterol l didn't tell him and we smiled and l left. Called back 2mins later for my DN. She opened with how fantastic my hba1c was and raised eyes to cholesterol. l launched into my speech gave her the print outs we discussed diet. She was fine said l was obviously aware of what l was talking about, she is going to look into low carb high fat and the LDL. I gave her the info l copied, sites they came from and search terms used, scientific papers from the net and info from here. She will scan it onto my records and as she says at least no one can say that we didn't discuss it. Even if she doesn't read the items she was really good. she raised eyebrows and grinned when l said the Dr hadn't mentioned cholesterol and said with a sigh no he never looks at the notes properly at times. Discussed my weight and trousers falling off, the Total Warrior race Diet all sorts. Turns out in the yr they have been going in this area l am the first person she referred to DESMOND mostly she has oldies who are not interested... so my scathing comments were of interest to her. I said that all l tended to hear was arguments between folks and their DN and she had been great.. her reply was amazing given what folks here go through and my usual local nhs feelings. She said that if we are going to work together then there is no point her being all prissy and demanding...it will get my back up, l will ignore good advice and do no one any favours. And quite frankly the way l was going how could anyone argue with the time and effort l was putting in with the results l was getting.
