She was. My written English can miss bits....
Hi @hankjam, Sounds like you have struck gold with this DN as one of your health team. I find dizziness if standing still can be a problem. And my BP does drop when standing with prescription of medication similar to perindopril.
Did you have your BP measured sitting? What about after standing for 3 to 5 minutes?
The blood pressure standing up thing was a new thing to me too. When my mum (92) fell over they did her BP standing at the hospital and got very low results. As she had been on BP lowering medication for years they were quite concerned.. another medication out the window.. yippee!Hi @kitedoc I'm finding a degree of dizziness / slight blackout when bending down and maybe coming back up too quickly... so something not quite right. Yes, sitting down with arm extended and device in line with heart. Not tried after standing, so will give that a go.
Going to take my home device into the surgery and do a side by side with their machine and see what the numbers look like..
Cheers
So following my bloods, invited to see DN.
This one was new and different.
Clearly gone through my records pretty closely and was happy with BG control.
Checked my feet, they were good.
Whipped out a Flu jag and popped it into me... didn't really have time to think.
Not too happy with BP, a bit low.
On the spot reduced my Perindopril from 8 to 6mgs, which is actually 1 x 2 mg + 1 x 4 mg.... and arranged to see me again in two weeks.
Measured BP at home and got some pretty lowish numbers, 103/55.
DuckDuckGo led me here:

with the amazing final line:
Your blood pressure is in the ideal range. Keep up a healthy lifestyle as not only will this help your blood pressure (and risk of heart attack/stroke) but also many wider health issues. Pass the message on to friends and family - high blood pressure has no symptoms, so everyone should be tested regularly.
Not too happy with my TC's approaching 10, they've been going up every time.
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Take regular exercise
- Check your blood pressure at least every 5 years
Me: my ratios are solid.
She: hmmm, need to discuss with a heart man.
Me: fine, arrange it and we'll see where it goes.
Was in there for nearly 30 mins.
I think your arm needs to be resting at heart level to do the standing BP and waiting about 5 minutes standing before measuring.( um, twiddle thumbs, play with phone, watch TV, watch paint dry etc etc.) The first figure of the two that shows with each reading (called systolic BP, the lower second one is called diastolic) so I was told that a drop in or negative difference between the systolic BP readings sitting and that of standing is equal or more than 20 , that that maybe significant. Best Wishes.Hi @kitedoc I'm finding a degree of dizziness / slight blackout when bending down and maybe coming back up too quickly... so something not quite right. Well done! I’ve also had low blood pressure issues when standing since binning carbs, so I make sure to get plenty of sodium, potassium and magnesium, and it’s sorted
