Do Air Bubbles Matter

Hope this isn't too stupid a question!

I'm very new to injecting, only 2 weeks in! I have an air bubble in my Lantus Disposable Pen, is that ok? It won't come out cos of the needle not starting at the top of the vial, and I'm not going to inject with the needle at the highest point,.

Can someone tell me if it's ok, or if there is any reason why it shouldn't be there?

Hi

Ive never really worried about air bubbles myself as the bubble always floats to the top of the pen cartridge and very few people will ever inject every drop of insulin (the pen device usually retains about 3-6 units) so any bubble will just stay in the cartridge.

Some people though are particular about this and say to replace the needle every time you inject so that air cant get in. Others hold the pen upright before injecting and prime a few units of insulin upwards over the sink to get rid of any bubble.

Hope this gives you an idea what to do (if anything) and puts your mind at rest :)
