Hi all,

From what I understand, ketones are present when body is processing fat for energy, instead of sugar from the blood. Obvious conclusion for me is that, if you want to loose weight (so burn fat), you will have some ketones in your blood while doing it. Since ketones up to 0.6 are considered "healthy" (though I feel awful even when I have 0.1...), does this mean that if a healthy (non-diabetic, that is) person is loosing weight (so they're burning fat), will they have ketones in their blood as well?

Yep, anyone can get in ketosis.BTW are you mistaking the normal ketotic state(healthy) for ketoacidosis that afflicts mostly T1s (not healthy)

What do you mean mistaking? Is there a difference between a diabetic person getting ketones and a healthy person getting ketones? I mean low levels, like 0.1, 0.2, not 1.5.
I mean, if a healthy person gets by meter and checks their ketones - is it possible for them to a get a result different than zero?

Yes, healthy people will get ketones if they are burning fat as fuel. The reference to ketoacidosis refers to a different issue, which is where there are ketones in the blood combined with very high blood sugar levels, this is very dangerous and requires urgent hospital attention
