Do I have anything to worry about?

I have a family history so I just want to make sure.

I tested my fasting glucose twice, got a 5.2 and then a 4.9.

My 2 hours after the meal (it was quite a high carb meal) was tested 3 times and I averaged a 6.5. (tested 6.7, 6.5, and 6.3 in that order). I also had a moderately intense 10 minute run followed up by a bit of smarties candy 20 minutes before I tested.

I've read some places that these numbers arent totally normal and I could be at risk of developing type 2 within the next 10 years? what do you guys think?

I am 20 with a good bmi and I regularly excercise, although I used to not exercise very much at all and became kind of fat and I have slimmed down to normal in the last 5 years.

I cannot fortell the future, but if you are concerned about becoming a diabetic go and see your GP with the numbers you posted here with.

He / she should be able to help you with query's you might have about diabetes.

I would say that those are perfectly normal numbers and nothing at all to worry about - and I think your doc will say the same.

At your age, a 10 year projected risk is like pinning a tail on a donkey, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

Although investing in future health is always wise, so continuing to stay an appropriate weight, active, and on a not-too-high-in-processed-foods-and-not-too-high-carbs way of eating is a good idea. :)
