Hello out there to you all! I'm not sure as to whether I am in the right place or not but...and I do not want to waste anyone's time. I am having some concerns about blood sugars. I have had intermittent issues for several years with low blood sugars, but have always found ways of navigating through it with a healthy diet. I believe I have a good understanding of food values and nutrition. I developed gestational diabetes with my first born, but in the years that followed I had challenges with episodes of low blood sugar levels.

I'm going to cut to the chase here people. Today I have been experiencing what I believe to be full blown symptoms of Hypoglycemia and has been constant since this morning. My son has Diabetes Type 1 and and I tested my blood sugar at maybe 3:00pm this afternoon. It came in at 3.5. I tested it again at 7:00 and it had dropped to 2.7. I am still experiencing extreme fatigue, light headedness/dizziness with an ongoing headache.

Any information or feedback would be appreciated.

Non diabetic people can regularly experience low numbers, with no ill effects, and feel fine, but of course, few ever know what their readings might be, as they have no access to testing kit and/or no interest in testing anyway.

3.5 is getting low, and 2.7 is lower than I would feel comfortable at. The times I have recorded that low, I have usually been pretty hungry, so just got on and at as had usually been planned anyway. I don't eat sweet things or anything at those times. I just don't need to.

Had you eaten enough today, or had the ran run away with you and left you having eaten little; whether or not you felt hungry? Sometimes, I can find myself carried away in something and not quite forget to eat, but be delayed, or be gardening, and dirty, so decide "I'll just finishing this bit, before I cleanup and eat", then another hour passes!

If you feel hypoglycaemic, or otherwise off-colour in this way, it makes sense you test, as you have ready access to the kit. Again, if you feel off, have something to eat or drink. Is be inclined to start with something like a cup of tea, with milk, as that would lift my bloods gently and a little, then test again in say 20-30 minutes - provided I felt fine. Otherwise, I might be inclined to eat a biscuit or two, perhaps.

If this is something that seems to be happening then mention it to your GP, so that he/she can make a more thorough assessment of your circumstances. As you know diabetes can run in families, so statistics could suggest if there are diabetics in the family, you may have an increased chance of developing it too.
