I have had Charcot joint in both of my feet. Whilst the right foot is now in remission I have been left with arthritic changes in the left which causes me considerable pain. I have had cortisone injections on two occasions which relieved the pain but wears off within a matter of weeks. My orthopaedic surgeon has discussed the possibility of foot surgery. This would involve inserting three plates to fuse the bones in the mid foot and therefore hopefully relieve the pain. The surgery would involve 10-12 weeks of non-weight bearing on the foot. As I am only 56 I am considering the surgery. I would like to know if anyone else has been faced with a similar dilemma? Did they have surgery and was it successful?
