I have had Charcot joint in both of my feet. Whilst the right foot is now in remission I have been left with arthritic changes in the left which causes me considerable pain. I have had cortisone injections on two occasions which relieved the pain but wears off within a matter of weeks. My orthopaedic surgeon has discussed the possibility of foot surgery. This would involve inserting three plates to fuse the bones in the mid foot and therefore hopefully relieve the pain. The surgery would involve 10-12 weeks of non-weight bearing on the foot. As I am only 56 I am considering the surgery. I would like to know if anyone else has been faced with a similar dilemma? Did they have surgery and was it successful?

@NikNak1626 - I don't know anyone who has done this, but just wanted to wish you well. Living with pain isn't fun at all.

i am faced with a similar dilemma my right foot is twisted and broken in two places with char cot foot present
i have been in foot plaster for 10 months with no sign off char cot healing also in pain with it taking pregabalin 150mg but still pain present
My orthopedic surgeon has discussed the possibility of foot surgery
i am 50 and had type 1 for 40 years they have told me i must give up my job and no longer do a stand up job
i am concerned having the surgery char cot will still return and spend months of healing they say 3 too 4 months healing having been in plaster for 9 months and two toes removed that took over a year to heal i think the healing will take much longer and still have limited use off my right foot either way they say they cant leave my foot the way it is because i have Loss of sensation caused by peripheral neuropathy
I still unsure how to move forward i would like too hear of anyone who as had corrective surgery i have spoken too one person who has had this done and they say can no longer do a stand up job still in pain but everyone is different
