My bm is now stable with 2g metformin and good changes to diet. Only been diagnosed about a month and bm down now from around 18 to average of 6 now. So that's cool..... But I feel like **** a lot of the time. Dizzy. Confused. Weak. When bm drops below 5 I feel terrible but I guess this is a adjustment period as I think I must have been high moat this year!
Anyone else feel this way and does it last? Presume it improves?
I'm OK if I go out for a long cycle interestingly so that's cool as I love cycling and skateboarding.

Hi @Bigbassett_,

Yes, what you are feeling is normal. It is called a false hypo. Your body has been used to much higher blood sugar levels for a long time and now falsely feels as if they were too low. It takes a bit of time (maybe a couple of weeks) for your body to recognize the lower levels as the "new normal."

Yup, I felt exactly the same having lost weight quickly and on the max dose of Metformin. It passes, BG normalises and I feel better than I have done in years! Well done so far.

@Dr Snoddy awesome. I really cannot wait. It's been a couple of weeks I'd say at normal levels. So hopefully soon my body will stop whining about it.

What you describe sounds like a false hypo as others have said.
Did you go on 2g of metformin immediately or increase dosage gradually over the month period since your diagnosis?

It is the good changes to your diet that have lowered your blood glucose levels, the Metphormin is prescribed for different reasons and it only helps lower bg by a very small amount so keep up the good work. You will begin to feel the benefits real soon. Well done.

Over about 2 weeks the metformin was increased to 2g a day.

Thank you. So you don't think the metformin does much? That's cool then in some ways.
My diets drastically changed and I am very careful now. Lost a stone in weight as a result too. So bargain as cycling's easier

Metformin is useful. It affords some protection to the organs, helps with liver dumps and is a mild appetite suppressant. Aye, the best excercise is the one you enjoy the most.
