I think that was my problem - I was diagnosed at 6.8 on one FBT (didn't know about hba1c at the time so not sure if this was done) and managed to reduce it due to diet but my cholesterol was 5.5 and, with the usual mantra of ''diabetics need to have cholesterol levels of under 4'', i was put onto statins. Whilst my cholesterol reduced to 3 my BS went up to 7.2 and I was put onto Sitagliptin. When I came off of statins due to other problems my hba1c dropped to 40 and the DN said that it was probably the statins and I came off the Sitagliptin in August. My cholesterol is now 4.2 and hba1c 42 with diet only!On my statin info it's says they can caused diabites and also put your blood sugars up !
I did point that out to the DN I had at the time my BS went up and she told me not to believe everything I read in the newspapers - her face was a picture when I told her I read it from the drug company's own website!!On my statin info it's says they can caused diabites and also put your blood sugars up !
I said the same to my DNS and she told me I was talking rubbish .. So just walked out .. But I am not on good terms with my medic centreI did point that out to the DN I had at the time my BS went up and she told me not to believe everything I read in the newspapers - her face was a picture when I told her I read it from the drug company's own website!!
