I tried lchf then started with palpatations and weakness. When I low carb, too low it makes me ill.Do you have a date for surgery?
You mention eating "normally" after the ND. Depends what you mean by that. On the BSD, the calories are restricted for 8 weeks (design your own macros) then the period after is forever a low carb Mediterranean way of eating. That sounds quite sensible to me. Have you considered that?
@ickihun Not wishing to be impertinent but I believe you to be approaching 50 now updated studies are showing that the RDA for protein is 1.5 times kilogram of body weight for those 50 and over so by that your protein daily intake is too low.
My grandson has been banging on about it for months now telling me I don't eat enough protein.
I think I'm so confused by it all now.@ickihun Not wishing to be impertinent but I believe you to be approaching 50 now updated studies are showing that the RDA for protein is 1.5 times kilogram of body weight for those 50 and over so by that your protein daily intake is too low.

Not sure. In the middle of changing over to seperate Insulin regime next week. I'll see how it works first. Specialist said I'm ok to skip meals by not taking fast acting. Fingers crossed I'll be free to eat less. Are you able to do intermittent fasting?
Sorry to hear about your struggles and your current dilema @ickihun.Insulin resistance not improved without exercise. Cannot exercise due to pain. Walking too much gives me chest pains. Oh. I'm stuck in catch 22.
It is now decided Tuojeo300 and novarapid not Tresiba200 as first suggested.Sorry to hear about your struggles and your current dilema @ickihun.
Have you tried low impact activities such as swimming or cycling?
I too will second intermittent fasting, I just skip breakfast and that way I can still manage 18/6 for when I'm wanting to drop a bit of weight. By skipping breakfast I can still eat low-ish carbs but it doesn't feel like it as I'm splitting my allowance between two meals instead of three
I'd imagine that a basal insulin would make a significant difference to your situation. What insulin are you going to be using?

I know I can lose weight, well when my thyroxine was a tad high. No good for cardiologist thou.
Low carb medium protein gives me evening highs. So no benefit of less insulin.

Seeing a new dietician in May. Dietician attached to bariatric programme too. Something should help, surely?
I'm desperate to lose weight but no joy without thyroid being touched up.
Or my pelvis fixed.
