Does any type 1 have blackouts

Hi all hope u r all keeping well and hope u can help me out please. In December 2011 I was taken into intensive care with DKA and was told I was type 1 and was put onto insulin 4times a day and find it hard to cope with as I was 41 years off age. Well anyway in feb 2012 I had a fit and have had EEG and brain scans but they have all been clear, but since then I keep having blackouts where I can't remember anything. They seem to happen a few days before my monthly cycle and they r causing me to lose the people I love as I go totally mad and don't know what im doing. Please if anyone can help me on this then please do thanks

Hi, sorry to hear about your blackouts, I have never personally experienced this, however when my period is due I find I feel a little "woozy" have a really bad headache that often lasts a couple of days and my BG fluctuates enormously. I would keep a record of exactly when these occur, and have a chat with your diabetes care team to see if there any meds that may help or dietary changes you could make to prevent these blackouts. I have just started having them and im type 1diabetic. ive had 3 this week but the last one on friday ive fallen flat on my face after the blackout and broke my nose.ive now got a blue nose an black eyes. im so worried but i know if i see someone all they do is blame it on the diabetes.
