Does anyone have CFRD? Do you think I've got diabetis?

Hi guys,

Been wondering for a number of years, if I got diabetis, but my doctor keeps saying I'm not. I am ALWAYS hungry nowadays, unless I have a meal of almost only protein, always thirsty, frequent urination, especially at night, really dehydrated at night and my urine smells odd and very different after eating any amount of sugar. Also, about ½ to 1 hour after eating I suddenly fall asleep and my friends say that I seem to be in a coma or something like it, as I am totally unwakable for about an hour, after which I feel very drowsy, often for hours. I cannot tolerate ANY sugar at all, as it makes me itch all over, extremely dehydrated and makes me feel as if I'm on speed for 12 - 36 hours, followed by days of total exhaustion.
Supposedly my tests have all been negative according to my doctor, although the numbers were always at least borderline! Can't remember what the number were, I've got a really bad memory and this subject is still new to me. All of my older relatives had diabetis, but they're all long dead, so there's nobody I can ask, although my gran was already nagging me 30 years ago to have myself tested.
I suppose, I should mention, that I have Cystic Fibrosis, which means I could have Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes (CFRD), which is supposed to have symptoms of Type 1 as well as Type 2, and to complicate things even more, apparently it can also come and go!!!
If I have to go out to do something, I have to do this before eating anything, as after any amount of food, I simply have no energy at all. So I am always really cold, shaky and wobbly on my legs, when I NEED to get something done, until I often collapse somewhere in a total shaking fit, frozen right down to the bones, even in summer, unable to talk or communicate what's wrong with me. Really embarrasing, whenever it happens in some shop!!
Anyway, could go on and on, but I hope this will give you enough to go on. Would really appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

Hi,
Just wanted to give you some type of answer. As you know we're not doctors and can't really tell you if your symptoms are related to your CF or an onset of diabetes.
As you say there is the possibility of Cystic related D so I'm sure your doctor is aware of it. We used to have a member with it but I don't think he has posted about it for a couple of years.
I don't know if you already belong but there is a CF forum. A quick search found a lot of posts dealing with diabetes and CF.
